Olden, Freeguard, Lake George Boys and Girls Lead ADK at Cross Country Sectionals.

Although none of the competitors crossed the finish line first, it was still a successful day for Adirondack League runners at the Section II Cross-Country Championships. The event was held in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd at Saratoga State Park.


In the Class D boys race Warrensburg’s Brody Olden was the highest finisher from the ADK, placing 5th with a time of 17:00:91. With the effort Olden qualified for the New York State meet Nov. 13 at Chenango Valley State Park.


The top team in each class qualifies for the state meet, as well as the top five individual runners not on the winning team.


Mayfield's Cameron Abdella was the winner of the Class D race.


Jake O’Keefe of Lake George finished 11th. Liam Fahey Stack of the Warriors was 14th and Isaac Herrick 15th. Samuel Burns, Oliver Herrick and Brendan Bettersea manna were 21st, 22nd and 23rd.


As a team Lake George finished in 2nd behind champion Mayfield. North Warren-Johnsburg placed 6th.

David Anderson of North Warren-Johnsburg was 16th. Hayden Sirchia of Corinth finished 17th. Collin Monroe of North Warren-Johnsburg was 19th.


Argyle senior Alyssa Freeguard was the highest finisher from the ADK on the girls side. Freeguard placed 8th in the Class D girls event, just barely missing out on qualifying for the state meet with a time of 20:53:56.

Hartford’s Brynn Tyler also had a steller race coming in 12th with a time of 21:13:76. Tyler, just an 8th grader has a bright future as all of the runners who placed ahead of her were sophomores or higher.


Hadley-Luzerne’s Katrin Schreiner was 14th with a mark 21:25.25, one spot ahead of Corinth’s Rylee Dunbar with a 21:32:35.


The Lake George girls finished third in Class D. Taylor McLarty was the highest finisher for the Warriors, crossing the line in 23rd place. Taylor Syvertsen was 25th for Lake George and Mattison Stark 31st. Kayla Grant was 36th.

Argyle placed 8th in Class D. Besides Freeguard, Erica Sialunski was 36th for the Scots. Sage Frank was 44th Carlie Depew was 51st.


Sophia Squires of Hoosick Valley won the girl event.


Granville-Whitehall competed in the Class C events. Quinn Johnson was the highest finishing Granville-Whitehall runner in 40th with a time of 19:18:12. Matt PIetryka finished 82nd.


Bennett Melita of Fonda-Fultonsville placed first.


In the girls race Natalie Moran was the highest finisher for Granville-Whitehall in 90th.


Marien Sayahi of Voorheesville finished ahead of the field to claim the Class C title.
