Hughes Shot Leads Whitehall Over Burghers
Jayden Hughes hit the key shot of the game as Whitehall stayed unbeaten in the early season with a 35-33 road win over Warrensburg in Adirondack League girls basketball Thursday night.
The game was tight throughout. Warrensburg jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first quarter, but a 10-4 second stanza brought the Railroaders even at the break.
Whitehall held a two point lead heading to the fourth quarter. The Burghers held a one point advantage, but Hughes nailed a 3-pointer with just over a minute remaining to give Whitehall the victory.
Ashlyn Groesbeck finished with 13 points for the Railroaders. Hughes added nine points, all from behind the arc.
Hope Sherman had a double-double for Warrensburg with 11 points and 19 rebounds. Kara Bacon and Zailey Baker had eight points each.
Whitehall raised their mark to 2-0, 3-0. Warrensburg is 1-1, 2-2.

Lake George Hangs on Against Whitehall
Lake George held a narrow lead heading to the fourth quarter, then held off a Whitehall rally to edge the Railroaders 57-55 in Adirondack League boys basketball Wednesday.
The Warriors held a 49-40 advantage heading into the final stanza, but a 15-8 stretch pulled Whitehall back into the contest.
Jack Welch led Lake George with 17 points. Luke Sheldon chipped in 12.
Angelo Bergman and Aidan Osborne added eight points each for the Warriors.
Whitehall got an outstanding game from Latrell Evans. Evans finished with a double-double, pouring in 28 points and collecting 14 boards.
Cash Burgey had 11 points for the Railroaders. Landon Rozell had 12 rebounds.
Lake George is 1-0 in ADK play. Whitehall is 0-1.

Corinth Defeats Rival Eagles
Defending Adirondack League champion Corinth earned a win back on Tuesday night, defeating local rival Hadley-Luzerne 48-35 in an Adirondack League matchup.
Emily Dingmon led the Tomahawks with 19 points. Whitney Cameron added 13.
Gabby Graham scored 14 points for the Eagles. Madison Lent added 11.
Corinth is now 1-0, 2-1. Hadley-Luzerne is 1-1, 1-2.
