Monday Hot List

Yes, I know the segment is normally called the "Monday Morning Hot List." And it's not morning. However, I actually had games to write about this morning. There was a girls soccer tournament in Cambridge and some high school football in Vermont.

Thus, for this week anyway, the hot list is the "Monday Hot List!" Period.

Here is my look at who was hot this week in high school sports.

-First I will start with a performance that I had the honor of witnessing myself. Warrensburg-Lake George running back Brody McCabe led his team to a 65-0 win over Granville-Whitehall. McCabe scored three touchdowns and ran for 150 yards. He also returned punts and played a strong game on defense.

-Carolina Lott-Diamond of Hadley-Luzerne girls soccer has been on fire to begin the season. Lott-Diamond scored six goals and added an assist in a win over Granville in ADK play. Lott-Diamond then scored four goals and had an assist in the rematch with the Golden Horde in the Cambridge Tournament.

-Speaking of the Cambridge Girls Soccer Tournament, a shoutout to the host sqaud for capturing the title.Cambridge defeated Corinth 1-0 in the championship game to improve to 3-0 on the season.

-The MSJ girls soccer team is also off to a nice start to the season. The Mounties went to 3-0 with a 3-1 win over Long Trail.

-The Warrensburg-Lake George football merger seems to be a match made in heaven. After winning their opener 58-6 over Cairo-Durham/Catskill the Wolverines dismantled Granville-Whitehall 65-0 on Saturday.

-The Proctor boys soccer team earned their first win of the season 6-0 over Sharon. Carter Crossmon led the Phantoms with a hat trick.

-Now that I was able to get away from girls soccer for a second, how about Ella Moskov. Moskov scored five goals in an 11-0 win over North Warren to continue her torrid early season scoring streak.

-Lila Frasier of Lake George had a strong game in a 7-0 win over Salem. Frasier scored four goals and added two assists.

-Colin Hughes of Greenwich football had a big game for the Witches in a win over Catskill/Cairo-Durham. Hughes rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two sacks on defense.

-Fair Haven's Lily Briggs opened the season in fine fashion with three goals and two assists in the Slaters victory over Green Mountain. Briggs came back and scored two more goals in a win over Hartford.

-While I am on the subject of Fair Haven girl's soccer, the Love sisters are starting to heat up. Against Hartford Elizabeth Love scored three goals and sister Brittney added two. Maddy Perry also hit the back of the net twice in the 9-0 win.

-And again with Fair Haven girls soccer. I feel I am going to be saying that a lot this fall. Kate Hadwen has not given up a score in the first two games. The Slaters have outscored opponents 17-0 as Hadwen has recorded a pair of shutouts.

-Rutland's Jonah Bassett had the night of a lifetime in his team's win over the Seawolves. Bassett caught 18 passes in the contest.

-The player who threw the ball to Bassett also had a pretty darn good night. Rutland QB Eli Pockette passed for 323 yards and three scores. He also ran for 57 yards and a touchdown.
