Border Country Sports-September 3rd

Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.


No, this is not a mistake. Sophia Keyes put on a show unlike any seen in local girls soccer in well......maybe ever. At least in my memory. Keyes scores eight.....yes count them, eight goals as Salem rolled past Saratoga Catholic 14-0 in non-league girls soccer Friday.


Jenna McCauliffe and Kayla McCauliffe added two goals each for the Generals.


Elena Quartararo and Riley Gallagher also tallied goals for Salem. Sierra Phillips added four assists.


Salem is 1-0. Saratoga Cathoic is 0-1.

Fair Haven Takes Down U-32 in Opener


Fair Haven opended the 2022 high school football season on a winning note as they rolled past U-32 35-12 on the road in East Montpelier.


Joe Buxton led the Slaters with a monster game. Buxton ran for two scores and passed for three others. He also intercepted a pass.


Carson Babbie hauled in a pair of touchdown passes. Kahnai Gill also has a TD grab.


The Fair Haven defense was also stellar, forcing three Raider turnovers.


Fair Haven is 1-0. U-32 is 0-1.

Slater Boys Win on the Pitch


The Fair Haven boys soccer team began the season with a win, shutting out MSJ 2-0 on Friday at Abatiell Field.


Jack Almeida scored in the first half to give the Slaters a 1-0 lead.


Jace Hetrick increased the Fair Haven lead with a second half goal.


Kole Matta recorded the shutout in goal for the Slaters.


Fair Haven is 1-0. MSJ is 0-1.

Phantom Girls Open With Win in Green Mountain Tournament


Proctor opened their girls soccer campaign for 2022 in typical fashion as they defeated Ptter Valley 4-1 in the opening round of the Green Mountain Tournament. The Phantoms are the three time defending Division IV state champions.


Isabel Greb found the back of the net twice to lead the Phantoms.


Jenna Davine and Emma Palmer contributed a goal apiece.


Ella Brytkowski.scored for the Otters.


Cadence (Goodwin played a solid match in goal for the Phantoms in her debut.


Proctor is 1-0. Otter Valley is 0-1.
