Poultney Girls Soccer Team Breaks Out With Win


The Poultney girls soccer season entered the season with high expectations. However, illness and long gaps in between games has thwarted the plans of the Blue Devils. Wednesday Poultney finally broke out. The Blue Devils have likley not hit their stride yet but it was a step in the right direction.


Poultney halted a two game slide to rebound for a commanding 6-1 win over Long Trail in girls Division IV soccer.


Kait DeBonis led the scoring explosion for Poultney. DeBonis scored four times pace the Blue Devils.


Bella Mack also scored for Poultney off a corner kick by Kaydyn L'Esperance. It was the first varsity career goal for Mack.


L'Esperance also scored for the Blue Devils.


Poultney is now 2-2 on the season.

Corinth Edges Granville in Assembly Game


In the volleyball version of "Lights Week," an afternoon Assembly Game in front of the student body, Corinth edged host Granville 3-2 in a five set thriller on Wednesday in Adirondack League play.


Set scores were 25-11, 25-20, 26-28, 24-26, 15-10.


Samantha Petteys had a monster match for the Tomahawks, recording 17 points, 17 aces and five assists.


Desiree Neville and Vivian Millis had nine aces each for Corinth. Neville finished with 14 points, five kills and 11 assists, while Millis chipped in 10 points and seven kills. Erin Ward had seven kills.


For the Golden Horde, Sydney Liebig led the way with five aces and four digs. Lily Strout contributed five kills and three blocks. Vivian Green had six assists and Emma Hover four kills and two aces.


Corinth raised their mark to 4-2 on the season. Granville fell to 1-6.

Fort Ann Girls Soccer Defeats LaSalle


Fort Ann came away with an impressive non-league win, defeating Class A La Salle 4-1 in girls high school soccer.


Olivia Winchell scored two goals to lead the Cardinals to the victory.


Madison Freebern and Savannah Aratare also hit the back of the net for Fort Ann.


Angel Aratare, Mackenzie Esch and Addyson Burch had assists for the Cardinals.


Kya Bonitatibus scored for La Salle.


Baylee Wright had five saves for Fort Ann. Maura Dalmata had six saves for La Salle.


Fort Ann is 5-3-2 on the season.

Warriors Still Perfect in Volleyball


Lake George remained perfect in Adirondack League volleyball as they swept Fort Edward 3-0.


Set scores were 25-7, 25-13, 25-10.


The Warriors were led by Evie Burke with seven kills, six digs and three aces.


Shannon Starratt had 15 assists. Grace York added 11 digs and Cayla Stone five kills.


Natalie Durkee led the Flying Forts with five digs, three assists, two kills and one block. Lynelle Colvin added six digs and two kills, and Haley Saunders recorded 10 digs.


Lake George is now 7-0, 8-0. Fort Edward is 3-3,3-3.

Hartford Defeats Hadley-Luzerne


Hartford moved back over the .500 mark, defeating Hadley-Luzerne 3-0 in ADK volleyball.


Set scores were 25-19, 25-16, 25-18.


Soleia Lamoureux had eight aces for the Tanagers. Addison Potts added five aces.


Raeghan Liebig added five kills for Hartford.


Jordanna Kenny led the Eagles with three aces and three blocks. Jihanna Baker and Jenna Shannon added two aces each for Hadley-Luzerne.


Hartford is now 4-3, 4-4. Hadley-Luzerne is 2-5, 2-7.

Argyle Blanks Warrensburg


Argyle swept Warrensburg 3-0 in Adirondack League volleyball Wednesday night.


Set scores were 25-14, 25-8, 25-14.


For the Scots, Carrie Humiston recorded 12 assists, seven aces and three kills. Emily Wood chipped 11 kills.


Kylee Humiston fnished with five digs and three aces. Reagan Humiston had three blocks.


Breanna Anaman led the Burghers with seven digs,seven point and one ace. Taylor Smith added seven digs Ahnalie Bills had four points.


Argyle is 5-1, 5-2. Warrensburg is 0-7.
