Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.


Hartford Blanks Lake George in ADK Soccer


The Hartford boys soccer team ended a long dry spell against Lake George Friday on their home pitch, blanking the Warriors 2-0. It was the first win over Lake George for the Tanagers since 2010.


Hartford got all of the scoring that they needed in the first half. Michael Jones scored the first goal midway through the first half to make it 1-.0.


It was the first goal for the Tanagers against Lake George since 2015.


Cody Baker banged home the rebound of a Jones shot late in the half to give the Tanagers a 2-0 advantage.


Austin Wells and his defense made the lead hold up from there. Wells earned the shutout with three saves. Drake Stewart and John Gauthier were lauded for strong games on defense.


Brad Erceg stopped five shots for the Warriors.


Hartford is now 1-1, 2-1.

Golden Horde Girls Soccer Collects First Win


The Granville girls soccer team collected their first win of the season, defeatng Saratoga Catholic 7-1 in a non-league match.


Freshman Kara Jurnak led the Golden Horde offensive attack by recording the first hat trick of her career.


Paige Taylor hit the back of the net twice for Granville.


Alyssa Welner and Maddie Johnson also chipped in goals.


Chloe Andrew had three assists.


Ella Blanchard scored the only goal for the Saints.


Granville is now 1-4 on the season.

Salem-Cambridge Edge Witches in OT


Salem-Cambridge scored in overtime to edge Greenwich 3-2 in Wasaren-Adirondack League field hockey.


Mary-Kate McPhee scored on a penalty stroke to give Salem-Cambridge the win.


Salem-Cambridge had to rally from a two goal deficit. Brooke Kuzmich and Jocelyn Spezio hit the back of the cage to give Greenwich a 2-0 lead.


McPhee scored with 2:55 to play in the second quarter to cut the margin to 2-1.


Claire Toleman scored to tie the game with nine seconds left in the third. Nicole LaFountain assisted.


Barilyn Wright had five saves in goal for Salem-Cambridge. Maddie Curley stopped 15 shots for Greenwich.

Granville Golf Moves to 3-0


The Granville golf team kept their record perfect early in the season as they topped North Warren 4-1 at Green Mansions Golf Club.


William Jennings shot his first career sectional score with a clutch birdie on the 7th hole in only his third start.


Nathan Williams, Liam Farrell, and Ethan Martelle all won their matches. Granville is now 3-0 on the season.

Sophomore Evan Norton is 3-0 out of the number 6 spot, which is only used for tiebreakers in match play for the Golden Horde.


"Considering he had never played golf until the third day of practice that shows his improvement," Granville coach Justin Nassivera noted.


Granville also picked up a win in their season opener last week against Lake George3 1/2-1 12.


Zach Bruno of Lake George shot a 39 to earn medalist honors for the match.


Nathan Williams, Liam Farrell and Ethan Martelle won matches for Granville.


Jennings tied in his match.


Granville was 1-0 after that match.

Fair Haven Boys Win in Extra Time


Fair Haven got a goal from Jack Almeida in the first overtime session as they edged Green Mountain 3-2 in boys soccer.


Almeida hit the back of the net for the game-winner on a pass from Jace Hetrick.


The Slaters opened up a 2-0 lead to start the game. Hetrick scored the first goal off an assist from Almeida to make it 1-0.


Jack Spaulding gave the Slaters a 2-0 lead, also assisted by Hetrick.


Green Mountain tied the game before halftime. Eben Mosher scored to bring the Chieftains within 2-1. Green Mountain then equalized on a goal from Evan Kirdzik off an assist from Ben Munukka.


Neither team could connect for a goal in the second half.


Kole Matta was outstanding in goal for the Slaters.


Fair Haven is 2-2. Green Mountain is 0-3.
