Lake George Cruises Into Volleyball Finals


The Lake George volleyball team cruised into the Section II Class D championship match with a 3-0 sweep of Maple Hill Wednesday evening at Hudson Falls High School. With the win the Warriors stay unbeaten on the season.


Set scores were 25-16, 25-6, 25-11.


Shannon Starratt led Lake George with 27 assists and six digs. Maddie Burke also had a strong match with 18 kills and 11 digs.


Evie Burke contributed nine kills, seven digs and three blocks. Cayla Stone had six digs and three blocks. Grace York chipped in 13 digs.


Lake George advances to face #2 Mekeel Christian for the Class D crown on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Saratoga Springs.


The Warriors are not 18-0 on the season.

Argyle Falls to Mekeel Christian in Volleyball Semis


The Argyle volleyball team came up short in their quest to move on to the Class D volleyball final as they fell to #2 Mekeel Christian 3-0.


Set scores were 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.


Kylee Humiston led the Scots with 15 digs, two kills and four assists. Carrie Humiston added 10 assists, two kills and 10 digs.


McKenna McWhorter and Emilie Wood each had three kills.


For Mekeel Christian Ayva Dell had 11 kills and four aces. Gabriella Luna had 19 assists and Jahdey Jackson added 10 kills.


Argyle ends the season 12-7.

Hudson Falls Edges Broadalbin-Perth in Class B Semis


Hudson Falls earned their spot in the Class B volleyball final with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Broadalbin-Perth in the semifinals Wednesday.


Set scores were 27-25, 21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-13.


Liv Caprood led the Tigers with 18 kills and six blocks. Liz Donnelly had 10 kills and three blocks. Sami Peters finished with 32 assists. Cassidy Barcomb had 24 kills and Aubreigh DeMello added 10 points for Hudson Falls.


Sami Westfall had 13 kills to pace Boradalbin-Perth. Ellie Mitchell contributed 23 assists and four aces.


#2 Hudson Falls moves on to meet #1 Ichabod Crane on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Saratoga Springs.


Hudson Falls is now 13-4 on the season.
