Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.


Nassivera Wins 200th as Cardinals Blast Johnsburg-Minerva


Head Coach Kevin Nassivera earned his 200th win on the Fort Ann bench as the Cardinals blasted Johnsburg-Minerva 62-24 in a non-league game.


Nassivera, a former Fort Ann hoop standout in his own right, now has a record of 200-118 in his 16th season at the helm.


Jackson Paige led the Cardinals in their season opener with 22 points. Paige was hot from the outside as he nailed four shots from behind the arc. Fort Ann nailed seven treys overall.


Dylan Brown contributed 11 points for Fort Ann. Garrett Brown and Callon Sutliff chipped in seven points each.


Rodney Wolfe led the Jaguars with 14 points.


Fort Ann is 1-0. Johnsburg-Minerva is 0-1.

Spa Catholic Tops North Warren in Season Opener


Saratoga Catholic topped North Warren 33-23 in a girls basketball non-league contest. It was the season opener for both squads.


Addison Whitbeck scored 11 points to lead the Saints. Rylee Cornell added nine points.


Kiki Languerre scored 13 points for the Cougars. Isabella Tucci added eight.


Saratoga Catholic is 1-0. North Warren is 0-1.

North Warren Boys Split at Beson Tournament


The North Warren Coungars opened their 2022 high school basketball campaign with a split of two games in the Mike Beson Memorial Tournament. The Cougars won their opening round game to reach the final before being edged in the title contest.


In the first round North Warren defeated Galway 39-38. The Cougars jumped out to a 14-5 lead and then held off Galway down the stretch.


Sean Evans paced North Warren in the game with 26 points. Angelo Willette added six points.


Josh Lovelass led Galway with a 12-point effort.


In the championship game North Warren fell to Saratoga Catholic 54-45.


The fourth quarter was the difference in this one. North Warren led 38-30 after three, but the Saints outscored the Cougars 24-15 in the final stanza.


Justin Duscher scored 25 to lead Spa Catholic. Evans and Derrick Tyrell had 15 points each for the Cougars.


Spa Catholic is 2-0. North Warren is 1-1.
