Blue Devils Tame Wildcats in Softball


The Poultney softball scored at will on Saturday as they claimed an easy 26-0 win over Twin Valley.


Kaylah Bennett and Laura Winter swung hot bats for the Blue Devils. Bennett and Winter both pounded out four hits in the win.


Ace Katilyn DeBonis earned the win on the circle and combined for the 3-hit shutout with Lydia Book and Courtney Ezzo.


Poultney is now 7-4 on the season.

Babbie Tosses Gem in Slater Win


Carson Babbie dominated on the bump as Fair Haven picked up perhaps their biggest win of the season, blanking Division I Brattleboro 9-0.


Babbie mixed up his pitches well to keep the Colonels off balance, tossing a two-hitter wth five Ks.


Wyatt Cusanelli led Fair Haven at the plate with three hits, including a two-run double. Connor Fisher also contributed a oair of hits. Joe Buxton smacked an RBI double.


Fair Haven is now 5-6.

Fair Haven Softball Rally Comes Up Short


Fair Haven came from behind to tie the game in the sixth but the Slater ralley came up short as they fell to Brattleboro 5-4.


The Slaters trailed 4-0, but plated four runs in the sixth to get even. Kate Hadwen, Elizabeth Munger and Mercedes Cathcart triggered the big inning with clutch hits.


Freshman Tori Raymond pitched well for Fair Haven, going the distance. Raymond struck out two.


Leah Madore recorded 17 strike outs for Brattleboro.


Fair Haven is now 3-7.

Hadley-Luzerne and Lake George Advance in Tennis Sectionals


A pair of Adirondack League teams advanced in the Section II Class C-D Tennis Tournament yesterday. Both #2 Hadley-luzerne and #3 Lake George advanced to the semifinals.


The Eagles played at home where they blanked Chatham 7-0.


Connor Moulton, Caeden Wilson, Sean Frasier, Katrin Schreiner and Carolina Lott-Diamond won singles matches for Hadley-Luzerne.


Hayden Kader with partner Elaine Starzec and Matthew Harder with Jack Waterhouse swept the doubles matches.


Hadley-Luzerne is 10-1.


Lake George cruised past Scoharie 7-0 to advance.


Christian Siletti, Zach Bruno, Danny Nichols, Sam Knauf, and Everett McLarty won singles matches for the Warriors.


Lake George won both doubles contests with the pairings of Aubrie Murphy and Poe Tutu along with Antonia Chiarvavalle and Antonio Caldarono.


Lake Goerge is now 6-3, 8-3.


Hadley-Luzerne and Lake George will square off in Class C-D semifinals tomorrow.


Whitehall fell 6-1 to Mekeel Christian in their opening round match.
