Tanagers Roll Past Flying Forts


The Hartford volleyball team continued their strong start to the season as they rolled past Fort Edward 3-0 in Adirondack League volleyball.


Set scores were 25-16, 25-9, and 25-10.


Karlee Nims ahd 11 kills and eight aces for Hartford. Gabbie McFarren added six digs. Cassandra Wade chipped in five assists and four digs.


Natalie Durkee led Fort Edward with five digs, three assists and two kills. Lynelle Colvin contributed six digs and two kills. Haley Saunders had three aces and one block.


Hartford is 3-0, 4-0. Fort Edward is 0-2, 0-2.

Granville Claims First Volleyball Win


The Granville volleyball team picked up their first game of the season on Wednesday as they slipped past Hadley-Luzerne 3-1. The Golden Horde won the first two sets, but the Eagles won the third set to keep alive. Granville then closed out the match with a close fourth set win.


Set scores were 25-14, 25-20, 16-25 and 27-25.


Sierra Braymer led the Golden Horde with 14 service points and four aces. Kaelyn Dekalb had 11 service points, six aces, two digs and an assist. Mara Haskins added seven service points, one ace and one dig. Lilly Strout had five service points, one block and one kill.


Fort Hadley-Luzerne Riley Daniels had 12 service points and nine assists. Lindsey Grey added 10 service points, three aces and two blocks. Jordanna Kenny had 10 kills, six service points, five assists and three blocks.


Granville is 1-2, 1-2. Hadley-Luzerne is 0-2, 0-2.

Fair Haven and Middlebury Play to Tie


Fair Haven and Middlebury locked up in a tight battle in girls high school soccer. Regulation time and extra session was not enought to settle it as the Slaters and Tigers played to a 3-3 tie. Both teams entered the game unbeaten and that's the way they left.


Fair Haven jumped out to a 2- lead at halftime, but Middlebury battled back to force extra time.


Lily Briggs scored two goals for Fair Haven in the contest. Elizabeth Rose also found the back of the net for the Slaters.


Lily Lapiner, Cady Pitner and Amelia Quesnel scored for the Tigers.


Kate Hadwen had 11 saves for Fair Haven. Julia Bartlett had e nine saves for Middlebury.


Fair Haven is 3-0-1. Middlebury is also 3-0-1.
