The Capital Region Football Hall of Fame announced their Class of 2021 back in July, and this weekend the group will be formally inducted. Sixteen players, six coaches, two officials, a long-time media member along with the one championship team make up this year's class.
The induction ceremony for the Class of 2021 is Saturday, November 20, 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Albany The Desmond Hotel on Albany Shaker Road in Colonie.
Locally, current Granville and former Queensbury football coach John Irion is one of the coaches being inducted.
Former Hoosick Falls coach Ron Jones will be inducted posthumously for his success with the Panthers.
Former Lake George standout Jeff Higgins will be one of the local players inducted.
Josh Etu of Queensbury and David Winter are other players from the Border Country Sports area who will be honored.
Pete Tobey, the longtime football writer for the Poast Star will be inducted as a contributor for his years of outstanding dedication and coverage of high school football.
