The Southern Vermont League field hockey coaches recently selected their all-stars for the 2021season. The Fair Haven Slaters who just completed one of the most successful seasons in school history were well recognized. Several players from the Border Country coverage area were selected.
Fair Haven coach Allison Resnick was named Division B Coach of the Year. Resnick led the Slaters to the Division III state semifinals after earning their first playoff win since 2007.
Tegan Hoard and Alexis Murray were selected to the first team from Fair Haven.
Otter Valley's Alice Keith, Riley Keith and Ryleigh LaPorte were also named to the first team.
Receiving Honorable Mention were Alana Williams and Paityn DeLong of Fair Haven and Otter Valley's Marissa Connors.
In Division A Rutland's Emma Cosgrove was selected to the first team.
Honorable Mention went to the Ravens Elizabeth Franzoni and Jaryn Mazzariello-Peer.

Vermont State Football Championship Saturday
Today is Championship Saturday for Vermont high school football. Titles will be contested in three divisions at Rutland High School's Alumni Field. It marks the return of the high school football state championships in the Green Mountain State after last year teams played 8 v 8 touch football with no state championships.
Here is today's schedule:
Division II
Bellows Falls (10-0) vs. Mount Anthony (7-2)-11:00 a.m.
Division III
Windsor (10-0) vs. BFA-Fairfax-Lamoille (7-1)-2:00 p.m.
Division I
Champlain Valley (7-2) vs. Essex (7-3)-5:00 p.m.
