Furious Rally Leads Blue Devils Over Bellows Falls


Down five runs heading to your final at bat in the bottom of the seventh? No problem! Down 11-6 Poultney put together a furious rally in the last stanza to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, nipping Bellows Falls 12-11 in a game played under the lights at Legion Field.


Elizabeth Woodbury drew a walk-off bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Blue Devils a dramatic win.


Woodbury led Poultney at the plate with a 3 for 4 performance.


Kaylah Bennett and Laura Winter had two hits each for the Blue Devils.


Kaitlyn DeBonis earned the win in the circle.


Bella Mack made a key catch in center field for Poultney.


Izzy Stoodley pitched well in defeat for the Terriers, striking out 10.


Poultney is now 8-5.

TanaForts Upset Railroaders, Move to Class C Semifinals


The fifth seeded Hartford-Fort Edward baseball team made their inaugural foray into Class C sectional play one to remember. The TanaForts avenged a loss from earlier in the season and rode the pitching gem of Drake Stewart to a 7-2 upset of #4 Whitehall. The Railroaders beat H-FE 17-12 back in April at Bob Wilkins Field.


The win punches the TanaForts ticket to the Class C semfinals Monday night at East Field Stadium against top seeded Galway.


Stewart was outstanding on the bump. The junior fired a 2-hitter and struck out seven in a complete game.


Bryce Tyler was 2 for 4 with an RBI for Hartford-Fort Edward. Cole Gauthier, Joe Allen and Jimmy Lavin added RBIs for the TanaForts.


Ethan Eggleston and Jake Whiting had the lone hits for the Railroaders.


Hartford-Fort Edward is 6-5. Whitehall finishes 5-6.

Warriors Come Back For Walk Off Win


Lake George trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, but the fourth seeded Warriors rallied for a walk-off 2-1 win over #5 Berne-KNox to advance in Class C softball. The Warriors move on to meet #1 Chatham in Tuesday's semifinals at 5 p.m. at Moreau Rec.


Shannon Starratt of Lake George and Sara Macrina of Berne-Knox hooked up in a classc pitcher's duel.


Starratt was the winning pitcher for the Warriors, spinning a 1-hitter with seven Ks.


Macrina gave up struck out seven and gave up eight hits.


Down a run in their final at bat, Mattison Stark drove in a run with a triple to get the Warriors even. After a bunt by Grace York, Starratt blasted a single to left field past a diving Bulldogs third baseman to give Lake George the victory.


Lake George is now 10-2.

Whitehall Rolls to Class C Semifinals


Whitehall jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and pulled away from there as they advanced to the Class C softball semifinals with an 8-0 win over #7 Stillwater. The Railroaders now meet #3 Greenwich in the semifinals Tuesday at Moreau Rec at 5 p.m.


Whitehall added three runs in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead, then finished off the Warriors with two more in the fifth. The Railroaders batted around in the first.


Madi Gould tossed a 3-hitter with 13 strike outs for Whitehall.


Blake Bird led Whitehall at the plate, going 3 for 4 with three singles. Gould was 2 for 4. Vinna Jensen was also 2 for 4. Ava Ruby doubled and drove in three runs.


Whitehall is now 16-1 on the season.
