Golden Horde Pull Away to Defeat Corinth in Class C Softball


Granville jumped out to an early lead then used a big fourth inning to pull away to defeat Corinth 7-2 in a Class C play-in game. The Golden Horde advance to meet #4 Lake George today in the third meeting of the season between the two teams.


Granville used a leadoff single from Hannah Ingleston and a sac fly RBI from Reagan Swain to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.


In the second Rachel Beaver reached on an error and came in to score when Jordan Chadwick rocketed an infield single off Corinth pitcher Tegan Grady to make it 2-0.


Corinth scored a run in the top of the fifth to slice the lead in half but Granville responded.


In the bottom of the frame Haylie Barber led off with a single. Chadwick then singled off the pitcher's glove and Ella Olseb singled to lead the bases. . With the bases full Ingleston doubled over the centerfielder's head to drive in two runs and make it 4-1. Melissa Beaver picked up an RBI on a groundout. An RBI single up the middle by Swain increased the lead 6-1.


The Golden Horde tacked on an insurance run on an RBI single from Melody Schinski in the sixth and held on the rest of the way.


Lauren Bascom earned the win in the circle, giving up five hits and striking out 16.


Olivia Mann was 3 for 4 for the Tomahawks. Sarah Pita added two hits.


Lake George defeated Granville 6-2 earlier in the season and 2-1 in the ADK semifinals.


Granville is now 8-7.

H-FE Falls to Mayfield


Hartford-Fort Edward saw their season come to an end despite a solid effort as they fell to Mayfield 3-0 in a Class C play-in game.


The Panthers scored a run in the third and two more in the fifth to take the victory.


Natalie Durkee had a pair of hits for Hartford-Fort Edward. Gabbie McFarren, Olivia Lindridge and Soleia Lamoureux also had hits.


Raeghan Liebig pitched well for Hartford-Fort Edward, giving up just five hits.


Hartford-Fort Edward ends the season 4-9.

Westside Takes Down White River Valley


White River Valley hung tough for a while, but a huge inning in the fifth did them in as West Rutland came away with a 16-2 win in five innings.


White River Valley led 2-1 in the first, but it was all Golden Horde after that.


Peyton Guay earned the win in the circle with a 3-hitter and five Ks.


Guay doubled, tripled and homered at the plate for the Golden Horde.


Bella Coombs added a triple for Westside. Olivia Cyr doubled.
