Panthers Blank Horde in Battle of Unbeatens

Every time Hoosick Falls and Granville meet in field hockey it seems there is something at stake. Wednesday in Granville the Panthers and the Golden Horde both came into their Wasaren-Adirondack League showdown unbeaten. Something had to give.


Hoosick Falls led 2-0 at the half and went on to blank Granville 4-0 to keep their record perfect on the season.


On top of the key win, Panthers coach Denise Campbell collected career win 400.


"We knew it was going to be a battle. Hoosick Falls is always the team to beat," Granville coach Katie Barber said. "Congratulations to Coach Denise Campbell on her 400th career win tonight."


After a scoreless first period Hoosick Falls scored twice before the break. Ava Kasulianous scored with an assist from Emma McCart at 13:47 of the second quarter.


Tatum Hickey scored with an assist from Brooke Tonnesen with 3:09 left in the half to make it 2-0.


The third Hoosick Falls goal by Tonnesen off a corner. McCart was credited with the assist.

The final goal of the game was scored by McCart, assisted by Megan Marcoux.


Hoosick Falls outshot the Golden Horde 19-2. The Panther's had 16 offensive corners to seven for Granville.


Jaedyn Roberson had the shutout in goal with two saves.


Megan Decker had a solid game in the cage for Granville with 18 saves.


"Megan Decker was amazing in the goal," Barber added.


Hoosick Falls is 5-0, 7-0. Granville falls to 4-1, 6-1.
