Keith's Saratoga Picks-August 12th

Today I have to give myself a pat on the back. After a rough start to the Saratoga season I am on fire. Not only did I pick 5 winners yesterday, I am 14 for 30 over the last three days for a percentage of 47%. I also called the feature race yesterday, the Galway Stakes, exactly as it transpired.

Hopefully I can keep rollong today!

There are three stakes races on the card today, but I am going to focus on the Evan Shipman Handicap in Race #8. The first thing I always look at when handicapping a race is speed figures. With that in mind, two horses stick out to me in this one. Bankit for Stave Asmussen at 9-5 with Joel Rosario and Tiergan at 5-2 for William Morey with Irad Ortiz riding at 5-2.

It is really hard to bet against a Rosario ridden horse in a stakes race right now at Saratoga, especially when the entry is trained by the all time winningest trainer. However, I don't feel Bankit is in top form right now. Bankit has a narrow edge in speed figures right now over Tiergan, but I just feel the latter is in better form currently.
