The Hartford cross country team may not have come away with a win in a three team meet with Hadley-Luzerne and North Warren, but it was still a bit of a historic day for the Tanagers.
"We have a complete boys team today. The first time ever for HCS," said coach Andrew Capone who has coached the team since the beginning.
Next Tuesday Hartford will host their first ever home meet.
Hadley-Luzerne came away with a 27-28 win over North Warren and topped Hartford 22-38. North Warren slipped past Hartford 22-35.
David Anderson from North Warren won the boys race with a 19:49. Logan Reynolds of Hartford was a close second. Reynolds hovered in the top five the entire race before closing in on Anderson during the final circuit of the course. The outcome was not decided until a few yards before the finish line. Reynolds finished with a time of 19:53.
Connor Moulton of Hadley-Luzerne, Liam Hughes of Hadley-Luzerne and Collin Monroe of North Warren rounded out the top five.
Hadley-Luzerne defeated both Hartford and North Warren who did not have complete teams in the girls race.
Katrin Schreiner was first across the line with a 22:28. Kara Tucker of North Warren, Katleyn Hanlon of Hadley-Luzerne, McKenzie Johnson of Hartford and Breanna Wiley of Hadley-Luzerne placed in the top 5.
The meet was run on a new 3.1 mile course at Stuart M. Townsend Middle School.
Anderson and Schreiner now both hold the course records.
