Golden Horde Fall to Eagles in Opener

By Keith Harrington

The Granville girls basketball team ushered in the Dan Brown coaching era Friday night, falling to a talented Hadley-Luzerne squad 63-38 in Adirondack League play.

The Golden Horde were in the game at halftime, trailing just 28-24, but a 23 point third quarter allowed the Eagles to pull away.

Jordanna Kenny and Madison Lent dominated the paint for Hadley-Luzerne. Granville had no answer to the tandem according to Brown.

"Both players dominated the interior," Brown said. "We need to get our defense going."

Kenny and Lent both finished with 22 points in the contest.

Kenny produced a double-double with 11 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks to go with her points on the scoresheet. Lent also contributed eight boards and six steals.

"We gave them three or four chances by allowing them to get a zillion offensive rebounds," Brown added.

Freshman Ella Olsen in her first varsity game led the Golden Horde with 12 points. Lauren Bascom added nine points on a trio of 3-pointers.

Hadley-Luzerne is 1-0. Granville is 0-1.
