Warrensburg-Lake George Romps in Historic Win
It wasn't Ann Arbor, Michigan, but it sure looked like it. Longtime rivals joined forces as the Wolverines for the historic first time as Warrensburg-Lake George romped over Cairo-Durham/Catskill 58-6 in high school football Thursday night.
The Wolverines led 46-6 at the half and cruised home over the final two quarters.
Warrensburg-Lake George led 22-6 after the opening stanza. Tristan Hitchcock began the scoring on a 15 yard touchdown run. Brody McCabe added the conversion run. McCabe added a 20 yard run with Hitchcock scoring the conversion to make it 16-0.
Landon Olden contributed a 49 yard scoring scamper after Cairo-Durham/Catskill scored on a long touchdown pass.
In the second, Olden scored from 57 yards out to increase the lead to 30-0 after a conversion run from Caden Allen. Luke Sheldon then caught a 29 yard pass from Allen to increase the Wolverine's lead to 36-0. Allen threw to McCabe for the conversion.
Brody McCabe tacked on a 24 yard run with Gavin McCabe adding the conversion to make it 46-6 at the break.
Gavon McCabe and Avery Osborne rounded out the scoring with third quarter touchdown runs.
Olden led the Wolverines with 155 yards on just four carries.
Warrensburg-Lake George is 1-0. Cairo-Durham/Catskill is 0-1.

Bolton-Warrensburg Dominates in Opening Win
Most people believe that the Bolton-Warrensburg girls soccer team will be one of the best squads in the area in 2022. The Eagles did nothing to change anyone's thoughts Thursday as the opened the season with a dominant 6-0 win over Hoosic Valley in the first round of the Stillwater Tournament. It was the first win at the helm for new B-W coach Scott Smith.
Ella Moskov and Hailey Goodspeed scored two goals each to lead the Eagles.
Kara Bacon added a goal and three assists for B-W. Madison Goodpseed contributed a goal and Megan Langworthy an assist.
Hope Sherman earned the shutout with six saves.
Sophie Svec had eight saves for Hoosic Valley.
Bolton-Warrensburg will meet Stillwater in the title game today at 2 p.m. in Stillwater.
B-W is 1-0. Hoosic Valley ia 0-1.

Whitehall Nips Ticonderoga to Even Mark
The Ticonderoga girls soccer team must be feelng a little jinxed against Adirondack League opponents to begin the season. After falling to Fort Ann 1-0 in double overtime a couple of days ago, the Sentinels fell to Whitehall 1-0 in the final minutes of a non-league contest Thursday.
The Railroaders and Ticonderoga were locked in a 0-0 game with under three minutes to go. Ava Ruby then found the back of the net for the game-winner with 2:48 to play to hand Whitehall the win.
No other details are available at this time.
Whitehall is now 1-1 on the season. Ticonderoga is 0-2.
