Golden Horde Wrestlers Open with Win


The Granville wrestling team opened the season with a 40-33 win over Mechanicville-Stillwater Thursday evening.


Quinn Johnson (126), Nick Crum (132), Nathan Barber (138), Jaxon Torres (145), Scott Whitman (152) and Brent Perry (215) all picked up victories by pin for the Golden Horde.


Kaiden Turrine won for Granville by an 18-6 decision over Charlie Weiss at 160 pounds.


Luke Schirmacher (172) and Lee Scoville (285) won by piin for Mechanicville-Stillwater.


Granville is 1-0. Mechanicville-Stillater is 0-1.

Granville Bowling Ties Eagles


The Granville bowling team earned a 2-2 with Hadley-Luzerne in Adirondack League bowling Thursday at Lanes and Games.


Matt Getty rolled a 412 series to lead the Golden Horde with game of 140, 128 and 144.


Jackson Ketchum added a 384 triple with games of 147, 116 and 121.


Hadley-Luzerne was led by Adam Bernash with a 415 series, bowling games of 102, 154 and 159.


Garrett Carlton added a 384 series with games of 112, 128 and 144.


Granville is now 0-1-1.

Lake George Girls Basketball Claim Opener


The Lake George girls basketball team claimed their season opener, topping Galway 45-39 in a non-league contest.


Mykah Fisher led Lake George with 13 points. Fisher also had 12 rebounds to complete her double-double.


Caroline Campbell added 10 rebounds and six points for the Warriors. Sarah Pelchar ripped down 12 boards.


Grace O'Brien led Galway with 20 points and 19 rebounds.


Lake Goerge is 1-0 on the season.

Warrensburg Wins in Khoury Tournament


The Warrensburg boys basketball team opened with a victory in the George Khoury Tip-Off Tournament, rolling over Johnsburg-Minerva 84-13,


Evan Lapell led the Burgher with 24 points.


Steve Schloss added 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Brady Cheney had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Caden Allen chipped in nine points.


Warrensburg is 1-0. Johnsburg-Minerva is 0-2.
