Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.

Northville Edges Cardinals in Class D Final

The Fort Ann girls soccer team came up just a little short in the Section II Class D championship game. The Cardinals were edged by Northville 2-1 Thursday night at Stillwater High School.

Northville got off to a quick start, dominating possession for much of the first half.

The Falcons were awarded a penalty kick and were able to cash in. Leah Valovic converted the PK in the 13th minute to give her team a 1-0 lead.

Fort Ann picked up the pace in the second half and it paid off. The Cardinals equalized when a corner kick from Olivia Winchell was knocked in off a Northville defender to make it 1-1.

The score remained deadlocked until the 66th minute when Ciara Thompson hit the back of the net on a long drive to give the win and the title to the Falcons.

Baylee Wright played an outstanding game in goal for Fort Ann.

Fort Ann ends the season 10-5-3.
