Border Country Sports-October 25th

Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.

Fort Ann Advances in Class D

The Fort Ann girls soccer team may have gotten off to a slow start to the season, but they are rolling at the right time of the year. The Cardinals scored early and often as the defeated Germantown 5-0 in the Section II Class D semifinals.

Fort Ann scored all of the goals they needed in the first half. As a mater of fact, they scored the only goal they ended up needing in the 14th minute when Angel Aratare scored to stake the Cardinals out to a 1-0 advantage.

A pair of goals by Paige Trzaskos would extend the Fort Ann lead to 3-0 and the contest was all but decided. Both Trzaskos goals came within a three minute span.

Brooke Wright and Madison Freebern also hit the back of the net in the first half for the Cardinals.

Baylee Wright recorded the shutout in goal with three saves for Fort Ann. It was the eighth save of the season for Wright and the Cardinal defense.

Fort Ann will now return to the Class D championship game against #2 Northville Thursday evening at Stillwater at 6 p.m. The Cardinals lost to OESJ in last year's title game.

Fort Ann is now 10-4-2 on the season.
