Fair Haven Rolls Over Rival Devils
The last time the Poultney football team played under the lights at LaPlaca Field they came home with a victory and went on to win the 2019 Division III state title. It seems so long ago. Since then, the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the teams played a pair of flag football games and the Slaters won in Poultney a year ago.
After a long wait, Fair Haven was finally able to avenge that loss to their age-old rivals, rolling over the Blue Devils 42-8.
Fair Haven didn't waste any time gettting on the board. Carson Babbie scored on a two yard run on the Slater's first drive to take the early lead.
On their next possession Fair Haven got a 13-yard TD run from Tim Kendall to make it a two-score deficit.
Buxton added a 52 yard run, Billy Lussier scored from seven yards away and Buxton fired a touchdown pass to Kendall from 17 yards out to end the first half scoring.
Buxton finished off the scoring for the Slaters with a 44-yard scoring strike to Kahnai Gill to make it 42-0.
Jak Anderson scored the lone Poultney touchdown on an eight yard scamper. Tegan Capman ran in the conversion.
Buxton passed for 141 yards for the Slaters. Lussier addd 61 yards on the ground.
Anderson led Poultney with 41 rushing yards.
Fair Haven is now 6-2. Poultney is 0-7.

Bolton-Warrensburg Advances in Girls Soccer Playoffs
Second-seeded Bolton-Warrensburg defeated Galway in a Class C Sectional Quarterfinal game on Friday by a score of 4-0.
The game was tied 0-0 at the half, but Bolton-Warrensburg was able to capitalize with four goals in the second half.
Kara Bacon scored six minutes into the second half off an assist from Megan Langworthy. Madison Goodspeed then followed up with an unassisted goal to extend the B-W advantage to 2-0.
Ella Moskov scored the next two goals for B-W.
Ila Hubert also had an assist for the Eagles.
Hope Sherman finished with 13 saves, including stopping Galway on a penalty kick in the second half.
Defenders Karla Sherman, Kailey Bacon, Maille Kelly, Caitlan O’Donnell, and Sophia Fiorentino all helped BW secure there 11th shutout of the season.
Bolton-Warrensburg, now 15-2 on the season, advances to the Sectional Semifinals on Wednesday at Watervliet.

Lake George Girls Advance in Class CC Soccer
Lake George fell behind early but were able to erase the deficit and go on to defeat Hoosick Falls 4-1 in the Section II Class CC quarterfinal round on Friday.
After a scoreless first half, Jaid Kaminski scored in the 42nd minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Lila Frasier equalized for Lake George soon after to tie the contest at 1-1.
It was all Warriors after that as they scored three goals in a less than six minute period to take control.
Samantha Gorey gave Lake George a 2-1 lead off an assist from Frasier.
Frasier finished off a hat trick by socring the final two goals of the afternoon.
Alex Cavalier had six saves in goal for the Warriors.
Lake George is now 12-4-1 and advances to meet Greenwich in the semifinals Wednesday at Mechanicville at 5 p.m.

Lake George Finishes Unbeaten Volleyball Campaign
The Lake George volleyball team put the final coat of polish on their unbeaten season as they topped Fort Edward 3-0 in Adirondack League volleyball.
Set scores were 25-6, 25-7, 25-11.
Maddie Burke led the Warriors with 14 kills, nine digs and two aces.
Shannon Starratt added 21 assists, three kills and four digs. Evie Burke had seven kills, six digs and four aces.
Natalie Durkee led the Flying Forts with nine digs, seven aces and two kills. Lynelle Colvin contributed four kills and nine digs. Ollie Cutler had six digs and three kills.
Lake George is 14-0, 16-0. Fort Edward is 7-7, 7-8.

Hartford Sweeps Hadley-Luzerne
Raeghan Liebig led the offensive attack as Hartford swept Hadley-Luzerne 3-0 in Adirondack League volleyball.
Set scores were 25-19, 25-20, 25-11.
Liebig finished with seven kills and 10 digs for the Tanagers.
Alawnah Dunda added six kills and two blocks for Hartford.
Jenna Shannon, Jordana Kenney and Riley Daniels each served up six points each for the Eagles. Kenny added five kills, five blocks and seven digs, Shannon had five assists and Daniels had four digs and three assists for Hadley-Luzerne.
Hartford improves to 8-6, 10-9. Hadley-Luzerne is 4-10, 4-13.
