Eagles Fly High Behind Lott-Diamond in Playoff Opener


The Hadley-Luzerne girls soccer team flew high in their Class C playoff opener, rolling past Hoosic Valley 8-1. The Eagles are the #5 seed and advance to meet #4 Berne-Knox on Friday.


Carolona Lott-Diamond scored five goals to lead Hadley-Luzerne to the victory. Even more impressive is that all of Lott-Diamond's goals came in the first half.


The Eagles took an early lead when Lott-Diamond converted a pass from Gabby Graham and never looked back.


Hannah Johnson added two goals for Hadley-Luzerne. Kayden Beaver also scored for the Eagles.


Madison Lent had 12 saves for the Eagles. Sophie Svec stopped 14 shots for Hoosic Valley.


Hadley-Luzerne is now 10-4-2.

Argyle Defeats Saints to Advance


Argyle advance in the Section II Class D tournament with a 3-1 win over Saratoga Catholic.


The Scots led 2-0 at the half. Connor Brockway gav Argyle a 1-0 lead of pass from Victor Aguero.


Connor Buck made it 2-0 Scots before the break off a helper from Brockway.


Brockway scored his second goal of the afternoon in the second half of another pass from Aguero.


Will Franford scored for the Saints.


#7 Argyle advances to meet #2 Loudonville Christian Friday at North Colonie.

Flying Forts Take Down Scots in Five Set Thriller


The Fort Edward volleyball has been a team on the improve all season long. Last night their hard work paid off in a big way as they outlasted neighboring rival Argyle 3-2 in an Adirondack League volleyball five set thriller.


Set scores were 18-25, 25-21, 25-21, 13-25 and 15-12.


Argyle came into the contest only falling twice to Lake George in league play.


Natalie Durkee had a huge match, doing it all for the Flying Forts with four aces, 19 points, seven kills, 22 assists and 17 digs.


Ollie Cutler added three aces, 12 points, four kills and16 digs. Haley Saunders had three aces, six points, seven kills, and 16 digs.


For Argyle, Carrie Humiston led the way with 10 kills and 19 assists. Emilie Wood chipped in seven aces, five kills, six aces and five blocks. Raegan Humiston had seven kills and 11 blocks, while Kylee Humiston had 21 assists, two kills and two assists.


Fort Edward is now 7-6, 7-7. Argyle is 10-3, 10-6.

Warriors, Mountaineers Win at Adirondack/Wasaren Crossover Meet


The Lake George boys and Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne girls claimed Adirondack League titles this season. Tuesday they were victorious again. Lake George won the boys team event and Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne the girls race at the Adirondack/Wasaren Crossover meet held at Lake George.


Stillwater runners swept the top three spots in the boys race with Anthony Zaccaro. Tim Oliver and Dan Patrick.


The highest Lake George finisher was Jason Ludlow in fourth.


In the girls race Andrea Warren of Spa Catholic crossed the line first. Hartford's Brynn Tyler was the top ADK runner as she pulled away in the shoot from Corinth's Rylee Dunbar.
