Lake George Season Ends in Final Four


It has been a dream season for the Lake George voleyball team. The Warriors swept through the regular season unbeaten, won the Adirondack League, Section II Class D and State Regional titles. Saturday at Cool insuring Arena, despite a strong showing, the outstanding run came to an end for Lake George.


Lake George came up short of reachung today's Class D final, placing third in the state. The Warriors went 1-5 in pool play. Lake George was playing without Ella Fox who went down with an injury earlier in the season and Maddie Burke who sprained her ankle last week.


Lake George opened the morning pool play by being swept by defending state champ Mount Academy, 25-9, 25-6.


In their second match the Warriors fell to Harley-Allendale Columbia 25-and 25-22.


Lake George concluded pool play with a split with Living Word of Syracuse, winning the first set 25-19, before dropping the second 20-25.


Senior Shannon Starratt led the Warriors with with 34 assists, 15 service points and 12 digs. Evie Burke added 30 digs and 15 kills. Grace York finished with 27 digs and seven points. Angelina Minnear contributed 13 digs and nine kills. while Anna Richichi had eight points.


Lake George went 20-0 during the regular season.

Cambridge-Salem, Warrensburg-Lake George Play in Regioanals Today


Two local high school football teams will look to advance on the "Road to the Carrier Dome" today when they play in the state quarterfinals. Both Cambridge-Salem and Warrensburg-Lake George will be in action this afternoon.


Cambridge-Salem will meet Alexander of Section V today at 3 p.m. at Broadalbin-Perth. Alexander is the at-large team from Section V and is coming off a 35-7 loss to Oakfield-Alabama/Elba. The Trojans are 9-1 and ranked seventh in the state in Class D.


Cambridge-Salem enters the contest with a perfect mark of 11-0. Cambridge-Salem defeated Chatham with a come frombehind 36-21 victory to win the Section II Class D crown.


The Warrensburg-Lake George football team also continues along the "Road to the Dome" this afternoon. The Wolverines will face Section X champion Gouverneur in the Class C state quarterfinals at 2 p.m. today at Mechanicville High School.


Warrensburg-Lake George is 11-0 and defeated Schuylerville 20-7 for the Section II Class title last weekend. Quite an accomplishment for a first year merged program of former rivals.


The Wolverines are ranked 4th in the state in Class C.


Gouverneur enters the contest with an 8-1 mark.


The winner of today's game moves to the state semifinals on November 26th to meet Westlake or James I. O'Neill at Middletown High School.
