Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.

Nims Records First College Double-Double For Pioneers

A year ago Karlee Nims was preparing to begin her senior season of high school basketball for the Hartford Tanagers. Nims and her team entered the year with high expectations, and they did not disappoint. Fast forward eight months. Nims is now suiting up for her freshman season at Utica University, and in just her third game the former Hartford star accomplished something that some players wait years to do.

Wednesday night Nims recorded her first collegiate double-double in an 89-30 Pioneers win over SUNY Delhi. Nims scored 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead Utica in the contest. Even more impressive is that she accomplished the task in just 14 minutes of playning time.

Nims shot 8 for 9 from the field and was 4 for 8 from the free throw line. Nine of the rebounds Nims pulled down were offensive rebounds that helped lead to points for the Pioneers.

Nims also had 11 points in a win over Alfred State.

Nims is averaging 8.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 34 minutes of play in her first season with Utica.

Last winter Nims helped lead Hartford to an Adirondack League Division championship, Section II and Regional titles and the school's first trip to the state semifinals.

Utica is now 4-0 on the season.
