Home Runs Lead Lake George Over Hoosic Valley in Softball Opener
It may have been just the season opener, but the Lake George softball team bats looked like they were in mid-season form. The Warriors clobbered four home runs as they cruised past Hoosic Valley 18-0 in a non-league contest at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Glens Falls. The game was shortened to five innings by the run rule.
Olivia Gates, Shannon Starratt, Makena Barber and Mollie Johnson connected for homers as Lake George pounded out 18 hits in the victory.
The Warriors scored five runs in the first, five more in the second and eight in the third to make quick work of the Indians.
Starratt was 4 for 4 with a home run, two singles and four RBIs. Johnson was 4 for 4 with three RBIs, while Barber was 3 for 4.
Johnson is just an eighth and her home run was the first of her career.
