Hammond Races to Second Win at "The Bowl"


It was a scorcher Saturday night at Devil's Bowl Speedway so track promoter Mike Bruno moved the start time back to 8 p.m. It didn't cool off Walter J. Hammond. Hammond handled the heat by burning up the Devil’s Bowl clay earning his second Sunoco Sportsman Modified feature win this season on Community College of Vermont night.


Bubba McPhee in the limited sportsmen, William Lussier Jr. in the rookie sportsmen, Gage Provencher in the mini sprints, and Allen Hewitt in the mini stocks also visited victory lane.


It was slo the second win of the season for McPhee, Lussier Jr. and Provencher.


Fans were also treated to twin features from the MVVDMS vintage racers. Some familiar faces visited victory lane with their vintage cars as 1) Jack Miller (Vintage Modified), 2) Frank Hoard Jr. (Vintage Sportsman), 3) Carl Cram (Vintage Mystique), 4) Curtis Condon (Vintage Late Model), 5) Mike Wheeler (Vintage Antique) all earned victories.

Next up for Devil’s Bowl Speedway is Stone Motors night including all weekly divisions in action and another $500 to win Enduro. Pit gates opening at 3 PM, grandstands opening at 5:30 PM, and racing scheduled to start at 7 PM. Just another must see event at the great crate place.

The Money Team Advances in TBT


The Money Team made it two for two in the Dayton Region of The Basketball Tournament by defeating the Men of Mackey 92-75.


Jimmer Fredette had 21 points and four assists for The Money Team.


Mitchell Creek led the way with 26 points and six boards. Trevor Booker had 26 points and 11 rebounds.


The Money Team advances to play Red Scare tonight.

Granville Edges Ticonderoga in TCML Softball


Granville fell behind in the top of the fifth, but rallied in the bottom of the inning to defeat Ticonderoga 11-10 in TCML softball.


Granville led 6-4 after two innings paced by a two-run triple by Megan Decker to score Maddie Wilson and Paige Taylor.


Ticonderoga grabbed a took a 10-9 lead in the top of the fifth, but Granville answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to claim the victory.


Besides her triple Decker also picked up the win in the circle.


Wilson and Paige were both 2 for 4. Paige drove in a pair of runs. MaKenna McKnight added two RBIs.


Jazzlyn Disbrow, Myleigh Drinkwiner and Addison Munson had hits for Ticonderoga.


Granville is 3-9. Ticonderoga is 4-5-1.
