Border Country Sports-July 21st

Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.


Well, I am excited to announce that it is now official. The press release will be out soon, but starting on Monday July 25h Border Country Sports will be an affiliate of NYVTmedia. We will be joining forces to bring you the best local sports coverage in the Adirondack League, Washington County and Vermont border schools.


If you are not familiar NYVTmedia consists of the Granville Sentinel. Whitehall Times, Lakes Region Free Press, and North Country Free Press.


I am looking forward to this new great opportunity.

Adirondack Pride Wins Rosie's Tournament


The Adirondack USSSA Pride 16U softball team recently won the Aunt Rosie's 16U International Tournament in the Amherst/Buffalo area. The Pride beat out a field of 28 teams in the tournament.


The team had to win the championship game that was played at 11 p.m.


The Adirondack USSSA 16U Pride team consists of from Lake George Shannon Starratt, South Glens Falls, Emma Martens and Jessica Beames, Queensbury Lindsey Pepe , Shenendehowa Olivia Russell , Ava Barnhart, Mauve Brannigan, Sara Issics, Lauren B, Columbia Teagen Kreshik, Shalmont Annalise Taylor . and Colonie Lauren Cosselman.


The squad is coached by Buddy Beames, Joseph Pepe and Mike Martens.

Warrensburg and Granville Split TCML Doubleheader


Granville picked up their second game of the season as they split a doubleheader with Warrensburg in TCML softball. Warrensburg won the first game 7-4 with Granville claiming the nightcap 8-7.


In game one Hope Sherman earned the win in the circle for Warrensburg. Sherman scattered six hits and struck out nine.


Granville led 3-1 after the first inning, but a five run second by Warrensburg proved to be the difference.


Leigha Barnaby was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI for Warrensburg.


Courtney Ennis was 3 for 3 with an RBI for Granville. Megan Decker was 2 for 3 with a double. Raegan Swain added a pair of RBIs.


In game two Warrensburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first, but Granville rallied for an 8-7 win.


Granville tied the contest with two runs in the bottom of the first and three in the third. A three-run fourth gave Granville the lead and they held on the rest of the way.


Rachel Beaver was the winning pitcher, recording five strike outs while spinning a four-hitter.


Swain and Maddie Wilson led Granville at the plate. Swain was 3 for 3 with a triple, two doubles and three RBIs. Wilson was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.


Ennis was 2 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs.


Sherman was 2 for 2 with two doubles for Warrensburg. Barnaby was 1 for 2. Alexix Brody drove in a pair of runs.


Jane Trowbridge struck out six for the Burghers.


Warrensburg raises their mark to 5-3. Granville is 2-7.
