Railroaders Roll oVer North Warren in Season Finale


The Whitehall girls basketball team tuned up for the Section II Class C tournament by rolling over Adirondack League Diviison III champion North Warren 63-30 in a crossover game. The contest was the third place game for the ADK Tournament.


Section II Tournament pairings will be released today.


The second quarter proved to be decisive. The Railroaders led 14-9 after a quarter, but blew the game open with a 20-5 advantage in the second to lead 34-14 at the half.


Whitehall outscored the Cougars 29-16 over the final 16 minutes to seal the victory.


Ashylyn Groesbeck led three Railroaders in double figures with 13 points, nine of which came from behind the arc. Samantha Howland added 12 points and Blake Bird 11.


Nicole Buckman had 14 points for North Warren.


Whitehall finishes a highly sucessful regular season at 16-4 and possibly could have a home playoff game in the opening round.


North Warren fall to 9-1.

Guay Breaks School Record in Westside Win


Peyton Guay may only be a freshman, but she has already eyched her name in the West Rutland record books. Guay set a new school record for single-game scoring in as the Golden Horde dominated Bellows Falls 68-30 in SVL girls basketball.


Guay poured in 38 points in the lopsided win win for Westside. Isabelle Lanfear added 10 points for the Golden Horde.


Laura Kamel led the Terriers with 12.


West Rutland is now 16-2 on the season.

Harrington Scores 31 to Pace Tanagers


Hartford closed out the regular season with an impressive 67-63 win over Hadley-Luzerne on the road. The win avenges a 20 point loss to the Eagles back in December. The Tanagers end the season having one four of their last five heading into sectional play.


Ray Harrington had a huge night for Hatford, netting 31 points.


Hartford led 13-5 after a quarter and 37-22 at the half.


The Eagles sliced the lead to 49-40 heading to the fourth, but the Tanagers were able to fend them off down the stretch.


JP Lavin added 17 points for the Tanagers. Lavin missed the previous meeting between the teams with an injury.


Josh Ellis led Hadley-Luzerne with 16 points. Josh Foley addded 13, Alex Mattison 12 and Ryan Lott-Diamond 11.


Hartford moves to 10-10 on the season.

Poultney Falls to Long Trail on the Road


The Poultney girls basketball team was closing in on the .500 mark and had been on a roll, but Long Trail proved to be tough to handle Tuesday night, as they topped the Blue Devils 35-23 in an SVL contest.


The game was close most of the evening, but a 14-4 third quarter by the Mountain Lions provided the difference.


Camilla Marcy and Aimee Wildman had 10 points apiece for Long Trail.


Kait DeBonis led Poultney with six points.


Poultney is now 7-10 on the season.
