Golden Horde Ride Big Third Quarter to Tournament Win

Cambridge did their best to stay within striking distance for a half, but a big third quarter by Granville allowed them to pull away for a 74-34 win on the opening evening of the annual Granville Christmas Tournament.

Granville led 14-10 after a quarter and extended the margiin to 31-19 at the half.

The third quarter proved decisive as the Golden Horde outscored Cambridge 27-8 to blow the game open.

Cody Nelson scored 17 points to pace the Golden Horde. Caleb Nelson added 15 and Matthew Barlow 14.

Granville connected on nine 3-pointers in the contest and used their trapping defense to force turnovers that resulted in multiple transition buckets.

Granville is now 4-1 and will face Burr and Burton of Manchester, Vermont today at 5:30 as part of the pre-set tourney format.

Cambridge will meet Hadley-Luzerne this afternoon at 2:30.
