Hartford Takes Down Fort Ann for the First Time in 16 Years
"I've never been so happy to be a Tanager!" Those were the words from Hartford soccer player Ray Harrington when he messaged me last night to inform me of the Tanagers 1-0 upset win over Fort Ann in an Adirondack League contest.
The win was the first for Hartford over the dominant Cardinals in 16 years.
"16 years! We've got great coaches and a team that loves each other and wants to win," Harrington added.
Fort Ann outshot the Tanagers 18-6 in the afternoon in a game played at Golden Goal, but there was only one shot that counted. That shot came off the foot of Hartford's Ryan Morrow.
Morrow's goal in the 67th minute was the only ball that hit the back of the net in the contest as the Tanagers held on for the huge victory.
Austin Wells recorded the shutout in goal with eight saves for Hartford. Dylan Brown has two saves for Fort Ann.
