Hartford Cruises into Volleyball Quarterfinals
The #4 seeded Hartford Tanagers cruised into the Section II Class D volleyball semifinals Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of #5 Waterford at the Ella Colvin Gymnasium.
Set scores were 25-11, 25-15, 25-14.
The Tanagers now move on to face top seeded Galway in Wednesday’s semifinals at Ballston Spa. Gametime is 5 p.m.
Karlee Nims was a dominant force at the net for the Tanagers. Nims had 16 kills and six digs for Hartford. Most of her kills were thunderous, powerful swings from the frontline.
Sarah Monroe added 11 kills and seven digs for the Tanagers. Izzy French contributed 15 assists and six digs while Gabbie McFarren: had 10 digs and four aces.
Taylor Cosentino had eight service points, three kills and four digs for the Fordians. Skyler Kennedy chipped in six service points, five kills, five blocks and six assists. Chelsea Palmer had eight digs.
Hartford is now 11-3, 15-4.

Proctor Offense to Much for Blue Mountain
The #1 seed Proctor girls soccer team opened up defense of their Vermont Division IV championship as they powered their way past # 9 Blue Mountain 10-0 at Taranovich Field. The Phantoms are on a quest for their third consecutive state crown.
Proctor’s explosive offense proved to be overwhelming for the Bucks. Maggie McKearin led the Phantoms with four goals in the contest.
Jenna Davine also had a strong game for the Phantoms with two goals and two assists. Isabel Greb also found the back of the net twice.
Emma Palmer and Laci French added two goals apiece for Proctor.
Jordan Alley scored for Blue Mountain to spoil the shutout.
Proctor is now 14-0. Blue Mountain ends the season 6-8.

Greenwich Preps for Playoff Run with Win Over Granville
Most people in attendance at Friday night’s high school football crossover game shared the same sentiment. The Greenwich Witches are heavily favored to win the Section II Class D title, and may very well find themselves playing for a state championship in a few weeks.
Despite a game effort from Granville, the Witches remained unbeaten on the season as they blanked the Golden Horde 41-0 at Jordy Jackson Field in crossover game.
Matthew Conlin was a wrecking ball for Greenwich. The running back’s skill set combines power with breakaway speed and is a load for any opponent to handle.
Conlin ran for 146 yards and three touchdowns for spark the Greenwich offense. Conlin ran for scores of 36, 13, and 52 yards on the evening.
Jesse Kuzmich added 161 yards through the air for the Witches, including a 55-yard scoring strike to Deaontae Bennett.
Bennett and Colin Hughes added scoring runs for Greenwich.
Nick Crum was a bright spot on offense for Granville. Crum hauled in a long pass from signal caller RJ Monger for the Golden Horde’s highlight play of the night. Matthew Barlow ran the ball well for Granville.
Defensively, Brent Perry had a fumble recovery for Granville.
Greenwich is now 8-0 on the season. Granville is 1-4.

Argyle Advance to Class D Semifinals
The Argyle volleyball team advanced to the Section II Class D semifinals with a 3-0 win over Mekeel Christian on their home court.
Set scores were 25-17,27-25,25-2.
With the win Argyle moves on to meet #2 Lake George Wednesday night at Ballston Spa at 7 p.m. The Warriors swept the season series.
The #3 Scots got nine assists, five digs, 4 blocks, and two kills from Katie Lindsey. Anna Aubrey added seven digs and four aces. Lily Prevost contributed five kills and four assists. Lilly Kingsley had seven aces and four digs.
Julia Bolio, Kylie Riccaridelli and Olivia Montello had five kills each.
Sarah Gaulin had four service points and an ace. Kylee Humiston chipped in three digs.
Argyle: moves for 11-3, 13-4 on the season.
