Lake George Girls Advance in Class C Soccer

Playing in the #8 vs. #9 game can sometimes be a difficult spot. It certainly wasn't easy, but the Lake George girls soccer team was able to get the only goal they needed with nine minutes to play as they edged Canajoharie 1-0 in a Section II Class C opening round match.

Mykah Collier-Fisher scored off of a corner kick at the 70:55 mark to give Lake George a 1-0 lead, and the Warrior defense led by goalie Alex Cavalier made it hold up.

Tiffany Cornelius assisted on the game-winning goal.

Cavalier, who was named the Lake George starting goalie at the last minute played a strong game with 15 saves to earn the shutout.

Shelly Ann Hemmes had nine saves for Canajoharie.

Lake George is now 9-5-2 and will meet #1 Waterford in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
