Panthers Edge Granville in OT in Field Hockey Showdown


In as good of a high school athletic contest as you will ever see Hoosick Fallls scored with under two minutes to play in 7 v 7 overtimeto edge Granville in Adirondack-Wasaren League field hockey. The win clinches the league title for the Panthers.


The two teams split their games and shared the title in the Fall II season.


Katie McEachron gave Granville a 1-0 lead off an assist from Regan Swain at the 8:06 mark of the first period. The Golden Horde took a 1-0 lead to halftime.


Hoosick Falls got even with 11:27 to play in the third quarter on a tally from Lyric Kenner. Gwen Vincent assisted.


The Golden Horde stormed back quickly on a great solo effort from Haylie Barber to give Granville the lead back 2-1 1:07 later.


Vincent brought Hoosick Falls even with 2:41 left in the third to tie the contest again at 2-2.


The Panthers took their first lead of the morning on a goal from Tatum Hickey with 10:12 remaining in the fourth.


Swain forced overtime when she scored off an assist fromMelissa Beaver with 5:52 to play.


Hoosick Falls claimed the win in OT when Emma McCart scored with 1:51 left in the extra session.


Madison Haviland had four saves for Hoosick Falls. Megan Decker had 16 stops for Granville.


"Decker made diving saves today. She is doing a great job in goal," Granville coach Katie Barber said.


Hoosick Falls is 8-0, 12-1. Granville is now 10-3

Lake George Blanks Railroaders to Claim #2 Seed


Lake George clinched the #2 seed in the Adirondack League championship tournament as they blanked Whitehall 5-0 in an ADK match. Whitehall could have earned the #3 seed with a win, but now drops out of a shot at the league title.


"It was a continuation of Thursday," Whitehall coach Boyd Hunt said referring to a loss to Cambridge. "The sad thing it I think we could have been successful today but were just flat."


Goals by Lila Frazier and Samantha Gorey five minutes a part gave the Warriors a 2-0 first half lead. Lara Ann Stanco and Frazier had assists.


Frazier scored two more goals in the second half to make it 4-0 Lake George. Gorey assisted on both of Frazier's goals.


Emily Ellsworth rounded out the scoring with her first varsity goal.


Alivia Dean and Alexandra Cavalier combined for six saves for Lake George. Dory Gosselin had eight saves for the Railoraders.


Lake George is 6-2, 9-5. Whitehall is 4-4, 5-7.

Fair Haven Defeats Cosmos in Girls Soccer


Fair Haven jumped out to a 2-0 lead and went on to defeat Springfield 2-0 in SVL girls soccer.


Brittney Love scored a pair of goals to give the Slaters a 2-0 lead in the first half.


Ari Cioffi scored for the Cosmos to make it 2-1 at the half.


Fair Haven scored twice in the second half to put the game away. Isabella Carrara and Madison Perry hit the back of the net for the Slaters in the final 40 minutes.


Fair Haven is 8-2-1. Springfield is 4-5-1.

Proctor Rolls Over Twin Valley


Proctor scored early and often as four players scored multiple goals as the Phantoms rolled over Twin Valley 11-0 in SVL soccer.


Maggie McKearin, Jenna Davine, Isabel Greb and Emma Palmer all scored two goals in the contest for Proctor.


Laci French and Dez Traverse also hit the back of the net for the Phantoms. There was also an own goal.


Angel Traverse earned the shutout in goal with one save.


Proctor is now 10-0 on the season.
