Proctor Girls Cruise Past West Rutland in Homecoming


It was homecoming this week in Proctor, and there is no better way for the Phantoms to celebrate than to win over your most heated rivalry. The Proctor girls soccer team raced out to a comfortable lead at the half, and went on to cruise past West Rutland 7-2 in an SVL match.


Maggie McKearin scored off an assist from Emma Palmer and Laci French converted a McKearin pass to give the Phantoms a 2-0 edge.


Before the break, McKearin headed in a Jenna Davine cross to make it 3-0. Palmer scored late in the half to give Proctor the 4-0 lead at halftime.


Anna Cyr scored a pair of goals for the Golden Horde in the second half, but it wasn't enough.


Palmer scored her second goal of the game, and Davine and Isabel Greb also found the back of the net in the final 40 minutes for the Phantoms.


Goalie Serena Coombs made several outstanding saves for Westside.


Aubrey Beaulieu and Peyton Guay picked up assists for the Golden Horde.


Angel Traverse also played a strong game in goal for Proctor.


Proctor is now 9-0. West Rutland is 7-3.

Proctor Boys Bank Westside


Not to be outdone the Proctor boys soccer team also celebrated homecoming with a dominant victory. The Phantoms blanked West Rutland 6-0 in an SVL contest.


Proctor scored early when Matt Nop scored just 56 seconds into the game. Carter Crossmon picked up the assist and the Phantoms rolled from there.


Joel Denton and Crossmon also scored in the first 40 minutes to make it 3-0 Proctor at halftime.


Denton scored his second goal in the second half off an assist from Lucas Merril. A PK by Levi Petit made it 5-0 Phantoms.


Nop's second goal of the day rounded out the scoring.


Ian French picked up the shutout in goal for Proctor.


Proctor is now 4-2-2. West Rutland is 0-11.

Blue Devils Tie After MSJ Rally


The Poultney girls soccer team jumped out to an early two goal lead, but MSJ rallied to salvage a 2-2 tie in an SVL matchup.


The Blue Devils led 2-0 at the half. First, Hannah Welch hit the back of the net to give Poultney a 1-0 lead. Laura Winter made it 2-0 Poultney when she headed in a corner kick by Katelyn DeBonis.


Emma Blodorn cut the lead in half for the Mounties in the second half. Brooke Bishop scored the equalizer for MSJ.


Poultney is 5-4-1. MSJ is 6-1-1.
