Border Country Sports Blog-November 6th

Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Blog, I'm Keith Harington.

It's Champinship Saturday for Vermont Soccer

The time has come once again. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting here watching the Proctor girls soccer team play Hazen for the Division IV state title in 2020 on NFHS. Now, in the blink of an eye it's Championship Saturday for high school soccer and field hockey in Vermont once again.

Two local teams will compete for soccer state titles today. Proctor in Division IV girls and MSJ in Division IV boys.

The Proctor girls soccer team will be playing in their 11th straight championship game. The Phantoms are seeking their third title in a row. Six of those 11 championship game appearances have been against today's opponent. The Arlington Eagles. The teams will square off at 10 a.m.this morning at Applejack Field in Manchester.

Proctor enters the game as the #1 seed with a record of 15-0. Arlington is 11-5-2 on the season and ousted #2 Rivendell on penalty kicks in the semifinals.

Maggie McKearin leads Proctor in socring with 42 goals and 20 assists. Isabel Greb has contributed 25 goals and Emma Palmer 19 to go along with 10 assists.

Sidney Herrington and Taylor Wilkins lead the Eagles in scoring.

The MSJ boys are the #1 seed and will face #2 Rivendell, also today at Applejack Field. MSJ comes in with a mark of 15-1. The Raptors finished the regular season 12-3-1.

MSJ is looking to record their first state championship in program history.

A pair of Mill River transfers have been the catalysts for the Mounties. Tyler Corey leads MSJ with 33 goals. He is the all-tme leading scorer at Mill River and now looks to lead MSJ to a championship.

Jones has 29 goals on the season.

MSJ trailed at the half before winning a regular season match between the squads 4-3.
