A Busy Day For Section II Softball and Baseball
Well, it seems like Mother Nature has done it again! It appears that way to often lately a majority of the local high school softball and baseball slate has been wiped out because of rain. That was the case again yesterday as the Section II Tournament schedule was decimated by rain that hung around longer than expected. Yesterday's postponed games moved to today, along with an already busy scheudle for today makes for a very loaded schedule for Adirondack League teams. Here's hoping Mother Nature is feeling a little more cooperative.
In Section II softball #2 seed Whitehall will play their second game of the tournament when they host #7 Stillwater out of the Wasaren League in the Class C quarterfinals. The Railroaders took out Canajoharie 12-0 in five innings in their opener on Wednesday.
#4 Lake George and #6 Warrensburg will also be in action. The Warriors will host #5 Berne Knox. The Burghers will travel to #3 Greenwich to face the Witches.
Class D baseball teams open play today. #5 North Warren will meet #4 Loudonville Christian at the Boght Complex. #6 Argyle faces #3 St. Johnsville at Soldiers and Sailors Field. Both game are at 4 p.m.
In Class C #4 Whitehall will host AdirondackLeague foe #5 Hartford-Fort Edward. The Railroaders defeated the TanaForts in a wild one at Bob Wilkins Field early in the season. #3 Hadley-Luzerne will host #6 Bishop-Gibbins this afternoon. Both games are 4 p.m. starts.
In Class CC, #6 Granville who is coming off a dramatic 1-0 walk-off eight innning win over Stillwater, travels to #3 Maple Hill to tangle with the Wildcats. Adirondack League champion #4 Lake George will be at home to take on #5 Greenwich.
