Border Country Sports Blog-May 17th
Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Blog, I'm Keith Harrington.
It is the most wonderful time of the year! No, it's not the Christmas and New Year's Holiday Season Andy Williams fans. For me the best days of the year comes during three seasons. The sectional pairings for Fall, Winter and Spring sports. For an avid high school sports fan their is nothing like it.
Yesterday the Section II Softball Tournament pairings were released. Today local baseball teams learn their fate.
Hang on to you hats! It is going to be a fast and furious couple of weeks!

Adirondack League Teams Find Out Sectional Softball Seeds
The pairings for the Section II Softball Tournament were released yesterday morning and several teams from the Adirondack League received high seeds. A few teams were scheduled to jump directly in to play yesterday afternoon, but the storms that blew through Monday forced games to be pushed back to today.
In Class D Salem was awarded the #1 seed, Argyle is seeded #2 and Fort Ann #4. There are only four teams participating in the tournament.
In Class C Whitehall is seeded #2 behind top ranked Chatham. Lake George was awarded the #4 seed. The only way the Railroaders and Warriors will have a third meeting this season as they did a year ago would be in the championship game. Warrensburg is the #6 seed and could be a dangerous team to watch.
Whitehall received a first round bye and will await the winner of #13 Schoharie and #18 Canajoharie. Should Schoharie win the Railroaders would have the chance to avenge a loss from the basketball sectionals. That game is scheduled for tomorrow in Whitehall.
In Class C action today #13 Granville will host #20 Corinth at the Ken Burch Complex in Granville. Granville rallied to claim the regular season meeting.
Lake George is seeded #4 and awaits the winner of Granville/Corinth. If the Golden Horde win it will set up a rematch of last week's ADK semifinal classic. Lake George led that game 1-0 before a Haylee Barber homer tied the game. Lake George won it in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off double by Mattison Stark.
Hartford-Fort Edward is the #19 seed for their first ever venture into the Class C pool. H-FE will play today at #14 Mayfield. and would visit #3 Greeniwch tomorrow if succsessful. H-FE has just four wins on the season, three against North Warren, but a victory over the Panthers could inspire the young squad for the future.
Warrensburg is coming off an impressive win over Granville in the ADK Consolation game and may be hitting their stride at the right time. The Burghers are seeded #6 in Class C and will play the winner of today's game between #22 Waterford and #11 Galway.
An intriguing potential matchup in Class C could come in the semifinals. If Whitehall and Greenwich both advance past the first two rounds a contest between the Railroaders and Witches would be a game not to be missed.
The Class C semifinals are penciled in for May 24th and May 26th at Moreau Rec.
In Class D no games will be played until May 24th in the semifinals. Top seed Salem will meet #4 Fort Ann and #2 Argyle will meet #3 Germantown at Moreau Rec.
The Class D title game is scheduled for May 26th also at Moreau Rec.
