Fair Haven Upsets Mount Abe in Division II Baseball

Well, that didn't take long! It was just the first day of the Vermont State Baseball Tournament and we already have the first upset. #13 Fair Haven overcame an early deficit to take down #4 Mount Abraham 6-5 in the Division II playdowns.

The Eagles led 5-1 after five innings, then the Slaters started to roll.

Fair Haven got a run back in the sixth to make it 5-2, but still had work to do.

Then came the top of the seventh. The Slaters plated four runs in the frame to take the 6-5 lead and made it stick in the bottom of the inning.

Joe Buxton, Tim Kendall and Trey Lee picked up RBIs in the Slater rally.

Tyler Niklasson earned the win on the mound for Fair Haven with two innings of scoreless relief. Carson Babbie went five innings.

Babbie doubled and had an RBI for the Slaters.

Fair Haven is now 7-10 and advances to meet #5 U-32 Friday at 4:30 p.m.
