Caleb Nelson Leads Granville Over Tomahawks
If Granville's Caleb Nelson stepped out of the Granville Central School Gym into the frigid temperatures he would have had steam coming from his shooting hand. Nelson was on fire in the second half as Granville rolled over Corinth 82-31 in Adirondack League boys basketball.
Nelson scored 16 consecutive points during one stretch of the second half on his way to a career high 33 point night for Granville.
"When he's hot, he's hot. He's been waiting for that. He's been frustated, but he had a good night. He deserves it," Granville coach Justin Nassivera said about Nelson.
The Tomahawks came to play early on, getting 3-pointers from Zack Guilder and Kaiden Wright to jump out to the lead. The teams were tied 17-17 after a quarter.
In the second Granville cranked up their pressure defense and only allowed Corinth to score 14 points the rest of the contest.
Alex Warrington had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Horde. Cody Nelson and Matthew Barlow added nine points.
Connor Farrell with 10 rebounds and Alex Torres with nine boards had strong games for Granville.
Wright led Corinth with 11 points.
Granville is now 4-1, 5-2.
