MSJ Stifles Poultney


MSJ used a stifling defense to pull away in the second half for a 44-17 win over Poultney in SVL girls basketball.


Points were very difficult to come by in the first 16 minutes. MSJ led just 6-3 after the first quarter and 17-6 at halftime. That was all the Mounties would need.


MSJ opened the second half on an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 26-6 at put the game out of reach.


Tiana Gallipo scored nine points to lead the Mounties. Alyssa Fullam and Haylee Rivers added six points apiece.


Hannah Welch led Poultney with six points.


MSJ moves to 6-3. Poultney is 3-7.

Granville Upset By Burgers on the Road


The Warensburg boys basketball continues to play well after returning from a long Covid-19 induced layoff. The Burghers won their second straight, upsetting Granville 57-51 on their home court.


Steve Schloss was a major headache for the Golden Horde. Schloss poured in 35 points and hauled down eight rebounds for the Burghers.


Granville came out strong. The Golden Horde led 17-13 after a quarter and took a 29-21 advantage to halftime.


Schloss imposed his will in the second half. Warrensburg outscored Granville 18-11 in both the third and fourth quarters to take control. Schloss scored scored 15 of his team's 18 points in the final stanza.


Evan LaPell added 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for Warrensburg.


Caleb Nelson had 20 points for Granville. Cody Nelson added 16.


Warrensburg is now 4-3, 6-3. Granville is 6-3, 9-4.

Proctor Boys Take Down Blue Devils


Despite being without starters Levi Petit and Jacob Patch the Proctor boys basketball team was able to roll into the Devil's Den at Capman Court and take down Poultney 59-36 in SVL Boys Basketball.


The game was tight early, but a 13-0 second quarter spurt allowed the Phantoms to pull away.


Bryson Bourn had a huge game for the Phantoms. Bourn netted 21 points to go along with 12 rebounds and five steals. Carter Crossmon added 15 points for Proctor.


Marcus Lewis led Poultney with 18 points.


Proctor is 5-3. Poultney is 4-7.

North Warren Defeats Fort Ann


The North Warren Cougars got off the bus and got hot early, never letting Fort Ann in the game as they defeated the Cardinals 69-48 in an Adirondack League contest.


The Cougars led 23-8 after a quarter and never looked back. North Warren extended the lead to 36-18 at halftime.


The Cardinals played better in the second half, only being outscored 33-30, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.


Sean Evans paced the Cougars with 24 points. Derrick Tyrell chipped in 11.


Jack Dornan had a double-double for Fort Ann with 20 points and 17 rebounds.
