Proctor Edges Rival Westside
When the Proctor and West Rutland girls basketball teams take the court against each other you know it's going to be a battle. The teams are annually among the state's best programs and trips to the Barre Auditorium are expected not wished for.
Monday night the latest version of their rivalry game was tight throughout, but in the end it was Proctor that emerged with a 63-56 team.
West Rutland had things going their way early. The Golden Horde led by as much as 26-19 in the second quarter and took a 28-22 advantage to the halftime locker room.
Proctor rallied in the third. The Phantoms used a 20-12 quarter to lead 42-40 heading to the fourth. In the final stanza Proctor opened with an 8-0 spurt to lead 50-40. Westside got within six but couldn't get any closer.
Maggie McKearin netted 33 points for Proctor. She connected on six 3-pointers. Laci French added 15 points and Isabel Greb 11.
Mallory Hogan led the Golden Horde with 16 points. Arianna Coombs, Anna Cyr and Peyton Guay added 10 points each for Westside.

Poultney Boys Win At Mill River
The Poultney boys basketball team continues their improvement under coach Todd Montana. The young Blue Devils traveled to Mill River Monday night and came home with a 37-35 win at the Dean Houghton Memorial Gym.
Mill River led 22-17 at the half, but the Blue Devils rallied with a strong second half.
Poultney took a one point lead heading to the fourth quarter and held on for the victory.
Mason Boudreau and Ryan Simons had 12 points each to pace the Blue Devils.
Nate Hoague led Mill River with 21 points.
Poultney raised their mark to 4-6, while the Minutemen fell to 1-6.

Scots Defeat Whitehall in ADK Battle
Time is getting short in the Adirondack League season. Teams now find themselves jockeying for a spot in the ADK playoffs. Argyle took a step toward being one of the teams battling for the title in a couple of weeks, taking down Whitehall on the road 59-42.
The Scots led 12-8 after a quarter and extended the margin to 30-18 at the half.
Whitehall used a 13-12 thrid quarter to inch a little closer, but a 17-11 fourth put it away for Argyle.
Hunter Ingram paced Argyle with 18 points. Justin McWhorter added 17 and Derrick Liddle 13.
Tyler Brooks had 12 for Whitehall. Brandon Bakerian added 11.
Argyle is 7-2, 10-3. Whitehall falls to 7-4, 9-5.
__________________________________________________________________________________Slaters Roll Past Otter Valley
Fair Haven used a big first half run to pull away and were never challenged from there as the rolled past Otter Valley 72-48 in SVL boys basketball.
A 15-0 first quarter run by the Slaters blew things open and it was all Fair Haven from that point on.
Sawyer Ramey poured in 24 points for Fair Haven. Brandon Eastman added 12 points for Fair Haven. Sam Barber and Noah Beayon chipped in 10 points apiece.
Aiden Decker and Logan Letourneau had nine points apiece for the Otters.
Fair Haven is 6-0. Otter Valley is 1-9.
