Blue Devils Cruise Past Mill River


The Poultney girls basketball team put together their best performance of the season as they cruised by Mill River Thursday evening in SVL action at Dean Houghton Gym. It was the first win of the season for the Blue Devils after four straight losses.


Hannah Welch and Kait DeBonis both had double-digits for Poultney. Welch scored 11 points and DeBonis 10.


Malori Carlson and Lorryn Trujillo combined for 17 of the Mill River points. Carlson had 10 and Trujillo seven.


Poultney is now 1-4 on the season. Mill River is 0-8.

Slaters Nip Bulldogs in Defensive Battle


Points were once again hard to generate as the defenses ruled, but Fair Haven was able to score enough to nip Burr and Burton 26-23 in SVL girls basketball.


The game was tightly contested throughout and it was a Tegan Hoard 3-pointer that ended it up being the difference.


Brittney Love led Fair Haven with six points. Hoard and Kate Hadwen chipped in five apiece.


Julia Decker had eight points for the Bulldogs.


Fair Haven is 5-2 on the season.

Fort Ann Defeats Schroon Lake


The Fort Ann boys basketball team picked up a non-league win as they defeated Schroon Lake 57-50.


The Cardinals led 20-15 after a quarter and 35-27 at the half.


Fort Ann increaed their lead to 12 after three quarters before the Wildcats used a 15-10 fourth quarter to close the gap.


Jack Dornan led Fort Ann with 26 points. Dylan Brown added 14.

Proctor Tames Lions in Girls Hoop


The Proctor girls basketball team came back from a long layoff and defeated Long Trail 56-23 in SVL action.


Maggie McKearin led the Phantoms with 28 points. Isabel Freb added 13.


Laci French collected 15 boards.


Camilla Marcy led the Mountain Lions with eight points. Molly Luikart added seven.


Proctor is now 4-1.
