Blue Devils Complete Sweep of Mill River


The Poultney girls basketball continues their upward climb as they easily handled Mill River 47-23 at Capman Court. The Blue Devils now have six wins on the season and can close in on their first .500 mark in several years over the final four games.


Poultney controlled this one right from the start as they swept the season series against Mill River.


Hannah Welch led Poultney with 12 points. Kait DeBonis added eight and Emily Handley seven for the Blue Devils.


Malori Carlson led the Minutemen with six points.


Poultney is now 6-9 on the season.

Fair Haven Avanges Loss to Cosmos


For the second time this season Fair Haven and Springfield engaged in a low-scoring, defensive battle. This time the Slaters came out on top, avenging a loss from a few weeks ago, edging the Cosmos 27-24. Springfield won the earlier meeting 32-30.


Springfield led 12-10 after a quarter. Fair Haven took a 15-13 lead at the half.


Lilly Briggs hit a big shot to break a 22-22 tie, and Alana Williams hit key free throws down the stretch for the Slaters.


Williams led the Fair Haven with 10 points. Britney Love added nine.


Fair Haven is 13-4. Springfield is 8-7.

Whitehall Rounds Out Regular Season With A Win


There is not a hotter team on either side of the border than the Whitehall girls basktball team. The Railroaders have won eight in a row and haven't lost since a game at Corinth on Janaury 12th.


Last night Whitehall took control early and went on to defeat Salem 54-20 on their home court.


Whitehall led 16-4 after a quarter and 22-8 at halftime.


The Railroaders put it away with a 17-6 third quarter to lead 39-14 and cruised on home.


. Whitehall placed four players in double figures. Samantha Howland led the way with 14, Ashlyn Groesbeck added 13, Blake Bird 12 and Olivia Whiting 11.


Mary Kate McPhee had five points for Salem.


Whitehall will travel to Hartford Thursday for a semifinal game of Adirondack tournament. The teams split in the regular season with the Railroaders winning the most recent meeting at Hartford 47-46.


Whitehall is now 10-3, 15-3. Salem is 4-9.

Granville Falls to Eagles on Senior Night


It was the final home game of the regular season for the group of Granville seniors, but Hadley-Luzerne clamped down the defense on the Golden Horde to take a 39-21 win in Adirondack League play.


The game was close in the first half. The teams were tied 5-5 after the opening stanza. The Eagles used a 12-9 second quarter to lead 17-14 at the break.


Hadley-Luzerne pulled away with a 22-7 second half.


Madison Lent recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals. Jordanna Kenny added 12 points for the Eagles.


Bailey Phillips led Granville with eight points.


Granville falls to 4-9, 5-13.
