Railroaders Earn Big Win Over Burghers


The Whitehall girls basketball continued their upward rise as they used a solid second half performance to top Warrensburg 38-33 in an Adirondack League contest.


Whitehall led 10-7 after a quarter but the Burghers tied the game up at the half at 16-16.


The Railroaders took control with a 10-6 third quarter and used a 12-11 fourth quarter to finish the job.


Ashlyn Groesbeck led Whitehall with 14 points. Samantha Howland added eight and Madison Gould seven.


Karla Sherman had 10 points for Warrensburg. Kara Bacon and Olivia Frasier added seven ponts each.


Whitehall is 8-3, 13-3. Warrensburg is 9-3, 12-5.

Fair Haven Boys Win on Senior Night


It was Senior Night in Fair Haven the 12 graders on the Slaters boys basketball team went out with a bang as the rolled over Springfield 82-35 in SVL action.


The Slaters took charge right from the start, building a first quarter lead and extending it to 45-15 at the half.


Sawyer Ramey paced Fair Haven, netting 19 points. . Brandon Eastman added17 points for Fair Haven. Sam Barber contributed 15 and Joe Buxton 13.

Sam Presch had 17 points for the Cosmos.

Fair Haven is now 9-1 on the season.

__________________________________________________________________________________Warrensburg Clinches ADK Division II Crown

After a long layoff due to Covid related postponements things have turned out well for the Warrensburg boys basketball team. The Burghers clinched the Adirondack League Division II title with a convincing 72-37 win over Fort Edward.

The Burghers wasted no time imposing their will on the Flying Forts. Warrensburg took a commanding 27-4 first quarter lead and increased the margin to 43-10 at the half.

Warrensburg has won six out of their last seven since their return, with the only loss coming to Hartford by two points.

Dan Cunniffe had a triple double of 21 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists to pace Warrensburg. Brady Cheney


had a double double with 16 points and 12 boards. Stevie Schloss and Evan LaPell scored 19 and 12,

respectively.


Bryce Tyler had 13 points for Fort Edward. Ash Sullivan added 10.


The win earns the Burghers a spot in the league tournament semifinals.


Warrensburg is 8-4, 10-4.

Proctor Girls Take Down Mid-Vermont


Proctor took a first quarter lead and extended it before halftme as they took down Mid Vermont 73-52 in SVL gilrs basketball at the Almo Buggiani Gym.


The Phantoms led 18-9 after a quarter and 36-22 at the break.


Maggie McKearin led Proctor with 31 points, including five 3-pointers. Isabel Greb added 17.


Hayley Goodwin scored 33 for Mid Vermont.


Proctor is now 11-1. Mid Vermont is 8-5.

Proctor Boys Complete Sweep


The Proctor boys basketball completed the sweep of Mid Vermont, defeating the Lions 66-57.


The Phantoms led 21-18 after a quarter and 38-27 at halftime.


The Lions pulled within 54-52 in the fourth quarter, but Proctor pulled away down the stretch.


Bryson Bourn poured in 35 points for the Phantoms. Levi Petit added 11.


Roman Goeppner led the Eagles with 23 points. Joel Roberts chipped in 12.


Proctor is now 6-5. Mid Vermont is 8-6.
