Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Blog, I'm Keith Harrington.

Golden Horde Earn First Win!

The Granville girls basketball team earned their first win of the season Friday night, and they did it in impressive fashion. Four players scored in double-digits and the Golden Horde defeated Salem in the General's home gym 62-53 in Adirondack League play.

Granville led 18-11 after a quarter and fashioned a 32-28 advantage by the half.

An 18-11 third quarter pushed the lead to 50-39 heading to the fourth. The Generals outscored the Golden Horde 14-12 in the final stanza, but could not make up the deficit.

Lauren Bascom and Aspen Williams led Granville with 11 points each. Jordan Chadwick and Melissa Beaver added 10 points apiece. Lilly Strout contributed nine points.

Amber Terry had 20 points for Salem. Mary Kate McPhee chipped in 12 for the Generals.

Granville is 1-1, 1-2. Salem is 1-2, 2-2.

Hartford Remains Unbeaten

The Hartford girls basketball team remained unbeaten on the season, going on the road to take down Hadley-Luzerne 58-26 in an Adirondack League contest.

The second quarter proved to be the difference in this one. Hartford led 13-7 after a quarter, but turned up the wick on defense over the next eight minutes, shutting out the Eagles 20-0 to lead 33-7 at the half.

The Eagles played better in the second half, only being outscored 25-19, but the second quarter onslaught by the Tanagers was too much to overcome.

Karlee Nims who hit the 1,000 point mark earlier in the week led Hartford with 18 points. Gabrielle McFarren also scored 18 points. 8th grader McKenzie Johnson added 11, including nine points from behind the arc.

Gabby Mosher had 10 points for Hadley-Luzerne. Sarah Abbott collected nine rebounds.

Hartford moves to 3-0, 6-0. Hadley-Luzerne is 1-2, 1-3.

Lake George Blows Past Flying Forts

The Adirondack League boys basketball title race appears to be wide open this season. It looks like there is a lot of parity. The Lake George boys may be the outlier. The Warriors remained perfect in Adirondack League play Friday night at they blew past Fort Edward 80-38.

Cameron Orr scored 25 points for Lake George and Julius Moffit added 21 in the dominant effort.

This contest was all but over after the first eight minutes. Lake George raced out to a 31-10 first quarter lead, and extended it to 45-19 at the half.

Dan Barber also had a stellar game for the Warriros with nine points and 15 rebounds. Orr also handed out four assists.

Bradley Kamburelis led Fort Edward with 18 points.

Lake George is 4-0, 5-1. Fort Edward is 0-4, 1-5.

Fort Ann Flys Past Burghers

Fort Ann fell behind early, but used a huge advantage over the middle stanzas to defeat Warrensburg 57-45 in Adirondack League play.

Warrensburg led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter. However, Fort Ann dominated the middle periods scoring 21 points in each to open a 48-38 lead.

A 9-7 fourth quarter put it away for the Cardinals.
