Whitehall Softball Takes Down Spartans in Opener
The Whitehall softball team has high expectations for the season. The Railroaders return a ton of talent and should be one of the best teams in the area. Friday Whitehall flexed their muscles in their non-league opener, taking down Queensbury of the Foothills Council 6-1.
The Railroaders did all of their damage on offense in two innings. Whitehall plated a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead. They made that lead stick until they blew the game open by plating five runs in the sixth.
Madison Gould took care of the rest in the circle. Gould held Queensbury to just four hits while striking out 10.
Olivia Whiting and Ava Ruby had big days at the plater. Whiting was 3 for 4 with a double. Ava Ruby also was 3 for 4. Vinna Jensen homered and knocked in three runs.
Alexis Rogers struck out 11 for the Spartans.
Rogers and Cassidy Ray were both 2 for 3 at the plate for Queensbury.
Whitehall is 1-0. Queensbury is 0-1.
