Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Players of the Week

This week marks the final week of the Adirondack League season. Some teams play makeup games tonight and tomorrow night. Then the ADK teams move into league tournament play. Some teams of course will play crossovers, while the top four boys and girls teams will meet on Thursday in the league semifinals. The championship games are scheduled for Saturday.

Vermont teams still have a couple of weeks of regular season games left and then they move on to the Vermont State Tournament.

It is time once again to announce our Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Players of the Week for this week. The Bennington Martens of the ABA are our area's only professional basketball team. Catch them soon at the Heritage Family Field House in Rutland.

Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Boys Player of the Week

The Boys POTW this week is Dan Cunniffe from Warrensburg. Cunniffe was the lone senior honored at the Burgher's Senior Night this week. In a Division II clinching win over Fort Edward Cunniffe recorded a triple-double. He had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

Earlier in the week on Senior Night Cunniffe poured in 27 points in a key Adirondack League win over Whitehall.

Congrats Dan!

Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Girls Player of the Week

I usually try not to name a POTW more than once in a season, but there was such an incredible performance this week that I had no choice. Maddie DeLisle of Corinth had a week that most players only dream of. In a win over Granville, DeLisle netted 39 points. DeLisle had 20 in the first half and connected on nine 3-pointers on the night.

Sunday in a win over Lake George, DeLisle surpassed the 1,000 career point mark. She pouted in 36 points in the contest.

Congrats Maddie!
