Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Players of the Week

Another week of high school basketball just flew by. The regular season comes to an end on the New York side of the border next week. Then it's off to the Adirondack League Tournament and sectional play. Meanwhile, Vermont teams who start the season a little later are around the halfway points of the season.

It is time once again to announce our Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Players of the Week for this week. The Bennington Martens of the ABA are our area's only professional basketball team. Catch them soon at the Heritage Family Field House in Rutland.

Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Boys Player of the Week

I finally got to see Fair Haven in person on Saturday and I came away impressed. Even if I did not Sawyer Ramey still would have been our POTW on the boys side this week. In a win over Hartford Ramey poured in a career high 41 points against the Hurricanes. He had six 3-pointers and 13 made free throws in the game.

In a winover Granville Saturday Ramey netted 31 points. He also had a 24 point effort in a win over Oter Valley.

Congratulations Sawyer!

Border Country Sports Bennongton Martens Girls Player of the Week

There have been plenty of weeks this year where West Rutland's Peyton Guay could have been my POTW. It seems like she had just barely missed out a few times. Peyton.....this week it is your time. The Golden Horde standout had a couple of big games this week.

In a win over Leland and Gray Guay scored over half of her team's 51 points.Guay netted on 31 points out Westside's 57. She connected on six 3-pointers in the contest. Against MSJ Guay scored 27 points including a trio of treys.

Congrats Peyton!
